A Typical Day at The Centre in the Park

Members usually arrive at the day centre in Gadebridge Park between 9.30am and 10.00am. We currently have access to one social services bus which brings service users from the Hemel Hempstead area and others are brought in through family members or community cars.

On arrival Service users are offered a hot or cold beverage along with a slice of toast.  They also have the opportunity to request a take home tea for a small fee.

Service users are invited to join in with gentle chair based exercises in our lounge followed by a quiz or music activities.   They can choose instead to take part in a variety of games and activities including cards, dominoes and quizzes which can take place in the main hall.  We also have a nice conservatory area where some service users prefer to sit and relax taking in the views of the surrounding Park or do a Jigsaw of their choice.

The Hair salon is open for daily appointments with our regular, friendly Hairdresser.  Assisted baths are also available.

A two course lunch is served at midday followed by time to chat with staff & other service users, there is also an opportunity to purchase confectionary items from our sweet trolley. Bingo takes place for a half an hour in the afternoon followed by activities such as cards, dominoes, uno, scrabble, Rummikub, quizzes & many more.  On occasions we have entertainers come in to perform for us all.

Hot or cold beverages are served in the afternoon along with a homemade cake or shortbread biscuit, before the bus arrives at 2.45pm to take service users home.
